Target Low-volume Keywords In Your Blogs

Target low-volume keywords

Finding a keyword with low searches in Google, I would recommend sticking anywhere between 15 to 160 monthly searches. These topics offer less competition & should therefore allow your new blog post to rank more easily.

If you choose to use keyword searches instead of brain storming your topics you can actually see how many people are looking for that specific topic. Now, don’t be intimidated by the term “keyword research.” It’s not just for social media marketers, but for new bloggers too.

To get ahead of your keyword research, you should start by identifying the general topic of your blog. Say you’re a gas engineer, your general, high-level topic might be “plumbing” (110K monthly searches).

Next, put the topics into a keyword search tool like:

  • Moz

  • Keyword Tool

  • Wordtracker

  • Wordstream

When you run your (topics) keywords through the tool, a list of other keywords will appear. Look at the list & choose one with a lower search volume. For this example, we’ll use “gas boiler installation” (2.4K monthly searches).

Run that keyword in the keyword research tool again. Look at the related keywords. Find one with a lower search volume.

For this example, we’ll use “emergency gas boiler repair” (140 monthly searches). That’s the topic for the 1st post.

TLDR Recap: Choose a low-volume, low-competition keyword that will ensure your 1st post ranks! How do you feel about keywords now? Do you think you're in the right place to be able to give it a go yourself? If not, drop us a message and we can help you out.
